Self‑Governing Jurisdiction Strengthens Cyber Resilience

Through our engagement, our client has strengthened their cyber security resilience by establishing a clear, practical framework for embedding policies and procedures across departments.

Our client is the government of a small, self-governing jurisdiction, and is responsible for managing the region’s finances and the operation of its public services. Our client fulfils the roles of both central and local government but scaled to a small jurisdiction. This presents challenges in delivering economies of scale but provides huge opportunities in joining up processes more easily across the entire system of government administration.

The Challenge

Our client provides key operational services to people and businesses, including tax services, healthcare, waste management, social services, and education. All of these services rely on the security and availability of government IT and Operational Technology (OT) systems. Critical commercial sectors of their economy also rely on the availability and security of government services.

As part of their cyber security strategy, which aimed to underpin growth in the digital sector and make the region more attractive for new and existing business, our client wanted to achieve a higher standard of cyber security resilience. To do so, they sought the expertise of a cyber security partner with experience working with both local and central government.

The Solution

Bridewell was engaged to support a specific project team within our client’s overall cyber security programme. This project was designed to enable our client to embed cyber security policies and procedures within the organisation at a departmental level.

The team Bridewell was brought in to support was responsible for identifying vulnerabilities and working with our client’s colleagues to resolve them, ensuring that the network and all data remain secure. Additionally, Bridewell designed and implemented a bespoke cyber security framework, a blend of best practices and industry methodologies which supported the project and a net contributor to cyber security resilience within government.

The Results

Through this engagement, our client has strengthened their cyber security resilience by establishing a clear, practical framework for embedding policies and procedures across departments. This work has provided greater confidence in the security of government systems and the public services that rely on them, enabling the client to make meaningful progress toward their strategic goal of delivering a more secure and reliable digital environment for residents, businesses, and the wider economy
